What can I say about lavender soap? It's such a favourite, and with good reason! Just catching the scent of lavender transports you to the scent of a summer's day with bees buzzing around lavender beds (and the bees at both my allotment and in my garden do love lavender!).
Speedwell's lavender soap is scented with lavender essential oil, and coloured using alkanet root powder (alkanet is a beautiful wild flower that you can often see growing along country lanes, beneath hedges. It has beautiful blue flowers and is part of the borage family, like forget-me-not). It's a soap that helps you to relax and dream....but in addition to it's lovely scent and relaxing benefits, it can also relieve stress, improve your mood, promote good sleep, prevent infections, reduce inflammation, eliminate dandruff, and soothe stomach bloating - pretty impressive! This soap is gorgeously creamy though and at the very least it won't dry out your hands....
The basic ingredients include: sodium olivate (saponified olive oil); sodium cocoate (saponified coconut oil; sodium shea butterate (saponified shea butter); water; glycerine (a by-product of making the soap); sodium castorate (saponified castor oil). There's also limonene and linalool - but they're already a constituent part of the essential oils and not an additive. They can be allergens, however, so if irritation occurs, discontinue ue.
Because the soaps are natural soaps, coloured only with botanicals and scented only with essential oils, they're best used within about six months from the date of purchase. Having said that, I've used some that are older than this and they've been perfectly fine but citrus oils tend not to last as long as some other essential oils, so do bear that in mind. Most importantly, all Speedwell's soaps are handmade in small batches, vegan, palm oil and preservative free and of course cruelty free.
As these are handmade products, weights may vary but all the soaps are between 68g - 110g depending on the mould used. The standard mould is the tree of life mould which is 110g.
